BACK TO THE FUTURE

The 2022 annual symposium was held on Thursday, 12 May 2022 at Riverside Sun in Vanderbijlpark.

The theme of the symposium was ‘BACK to the FUTURE’.

SAFA Symposium 2022:  Call For Abstracts

This event will be CPD accredited.


The theme of the symposium is ‘BACK TO THE FUTURE’ and the aim is to share knowledge and information on explosion prevention.  We invite persons and organisations that wish to present papers to submit a short synopsis for consideration. 

Topics to be covered include but are not limited to:

  • Industry 4.0 Ex
  • Practical Examples:  Mines
  • Practical Examples:  Surface and Manufacturing
  • Test Methods
  • Initial Inspections
  • Maintenance
  • Area Classifications
  • Protection Concepts & EPL’s
  • Ex Marking
  • Installation Design
  • SABS Work Groups Functionality
  • Regulators:  DOL and DMR

We have set out the above subthemes and would like to invite SAFA members to have a look at what we have outlined and advise whether there are any items that we should add to the list of subthemes that are important to address at the symposium.

Please note that papers should be 30 minutes in duration with 10 minutes reserved for questions and answers.

Exhibition

Informal exhibition stands will again be available at the 2022 symposium.  Each exhibitor will be provided with a trestle table, table cloth and two chairs. A  power point can be arranged on request for your stand – 3 phase power will be available.

Exhibition stands will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, with the best positions allocated first.  Note that space is limited so don’t miss out, book your stand today!

Exhibition rates:

Members:  R4000.00
Non-members:  R6000.00
Exhibitors:  R1300.00

Note:  At least one delegate must register and pay to attend the symposium, further staff members manning the stands only will be charged R1300.00, staff members will not be allowed access to the symposium hall.

Non-members:  R3800.00

Team Special (10 delegates):

CANCELLATION FEE: PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FULL CONVENTION FEE WILL BE CHARGED TO MEMBERS AND NONE MEMBERS IF REGISTRATION IS NOT CANCELLED 7 DAYS PRIOR TO THE CONVENTION OR IF THE DELEGATE IS A NO-SHOW AT THE SYMPOSIUM.

SAFA invites members to submit nominations for the 2022 Awards of Excellence.  All nominations received will be evaluated and the awards will be presented during the symposium on 12 May 2022.
