Eldon Kruger


Started my Electrical career as Electrician on the Goldmines in 1980 and quickly progressed to Engineering Superintendent in charge of large capital projects. I left the mines in 1997 and started a career in Sales with Pratley Pty Ltd where I progressed to Marketing Director, which is the position I still hold today. My formal education includes a N5 Engineering Certificate and a Marketing Diploma from UNISA. I am a member of TC 065 and the SAFA representative for TC 066 at the South African Bureau of Standards. At the South African Flameproof Association I hold the position as Vice President and is a member of the Management Committee, Executive Committee as well as the Ex Steering Committee.

Arthur Cameron
Arthur was born and raised in Vereeniging. He completed his Electrical Apprenticeship in the early 1980’s and progressed to an Electrical Supervisory Position as well as Engineering Planning. He moved into the sales and marketing field in 1991 and joined CCG Cable Terminations toward the end of 1998. He then proceeded to complete Installation Rules as well as MIE Requirements by the end of 2001. He successfully completed a Sales and Marketing Management Course and received a Higher Diploma in Business Management by the end of 2004. He was one of the first South Africans to complete the Compex Course in Chester , United Kingdom. He currently holds the position of Sales and Marketing Director at CCG Cable Terminations. Arthur currently serves as a Management Member and as the Treasurer of SAFA. He is also the chairman of the SAFA Organising Committee and serves on the MIE Subcommittee, Ex Steering Committee, Executive Committee and various other working groups.

Paul Meanwell
Paul Meanwell is the Manager - Engineering Governance for Komatsu Mining Corp. Group and has served as the chairman of the South African Flameproof Association since 2003. He is also the chairman of the South African Mirror Committee of the IECEx, a core member of SANC (South African National Committee for IEC) and chairman of SABS TC065 – Explosion Prevention.

Pieter Coetzee
I am an Explosion Prevention Consultant with 15 years’ experience in Petrochemical plants. I am also a master installation electrician (MIE) registered with DOL. I also mentoring MIE’s to enhance their knowledge regarding explosion prevention in hazardous locations. I am specializing in explosion prevention training, auditing of Ex repair and manufacturing facilities, as well as selection and installation of Explosion protected equipment (EPE). I am very passionate about the Ex subject. I serve on different work groups and committees like SANS 10142-1 as well as SANS 10142-4 (Medical Locations); Vice chairman of the SAFA MIE group; SAFA management member; SAFA executive member; SAFA organizing committee member.

Max Koen
Was born and bred in Sasolburg in the Free State. He did electrical apprenticeship at Sasol and work his way up to a master artisan (specialist) and then later to Explosion Prevention Consultant. He received his Master Installation Electrician (MIE) registration in 2001 from the Department of Labour and is also registered as an Assessor at EWSETA for the national electrical and hazardous location unit standards. Max is also one of only two International Accredited CompEx Assessors / Trainers in Africa. He is also a Commissioner of Oaths for the Republic of South Africa. He specializes in hazardous location management systems, inspections, audits and area classifications for the last 17 years by expanding his knowledge by attending various courses at institutions and test houses internationally. Max is also an active member of STANSA TC 65 and SANC IEC TC 31 and various other working groups / committees on explosion prevention standards & codes of practices (review & drafting) national and internationally.

Henk Zwart

Born in 1963 and proudly South Africa.  Matriculated in 1981.  Complete B.Sc l (Light & Heavy Current) Electrical Engineering Degree at Potchefstroom Varsity from 1984-1987 under Eskom Bursary.  Married end of 1987.  Have 3 sons and all three currently studying B.Sc (Light & Heavy Current) Electrical Engineering Degree at Potchefstroom Varsity.  Professional involvement with SAFA, SACEA and SANS since 1995. Registered as Pr.Cer. Eng. & Pr. Eng.  Hobby: Building Sound Systems and making music.
